Ag in the Classroom/K-12 - Beef Education

Partnership with the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture

The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture invited the ANCW Working Group and ANCW members to assist them in piloting their Beef Education Curriculum. This can be found on the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture website. Look through the site and familiarize yourself with what they have to offer. Scroll down for Educational Games, Beef Ag Mag, Beef Life Cycle, Beef up Your Nutrition, After School Resource, and much more.

Make the farm to fork connection with this series of lesson plans that accompany the documentary "True Beef: From Pasture to Plate". This guide contains 8 lessons designed for High School students in a Culinary Arts or Family and Consumer Sciences program, however, STEM connections have been included for all lessons making it easy for teachers to make connections across the curriculum.

The "True Beef" documentary was produced by Pflugerville Independent School District (TX) and is available for download at Vimeo or for DVD purchase in the Foundation store.

Beef to School Project

The Montana Beef to School (B2S) Project was a three-year collaborative project between beef producers and processors, schools, researchers at Montana State University, National Center for Appropriate Technology, Montana Department of Agriculture, and various community partners whose goal it is to increase the use of local beef in every Montana school.

National Ag in the Classroom

NAITC supports state programs by providing a network that seeks to improve agricultural literacy — awareness, knowledge, and appreciation — among Pre K-12 teachers and their students.
